OUR TAKOYAKI is the closest you'll get to having the authentic Japanese "TAKOYAKI" in New York City.
Why is our TAKOYAKI different from others? Our TAKOYAKI crafting technique is unique to its roots - from the moment of conception, through mixing and cooking, then served to you hot on the plate. We cook our original flavored batter in our special copper pan, with half-spherical molds using long sticks to form the batter. We then pat and knead it until the texture becomes elastic. Once the shape of the batter is roughly spherical, it’s time to spin the dough with the sticks every few seconds until it turns a golden brown color and becomes puffy. High temperature causes the batter to release moisture, making the batter blow up like a hot air balloon with the outside layer becoming perfectly crisp. Sounds complicated? Well, this is because in order to make the beautiful spherical TAKOYAKI balls evenly using such well-cooked batter and octopus requires a serious craftsmanship and an acquired technique.
Our TAKOYAKI comes deliciously put together in the perfect house café, with food and bar, accompanied by a delicious beer and wine selection.
Our Obanyaki are twisted with unique flavors like matcha cream with mixed berries compote, apple compote with custard cream.
